they are beautiful, Liz. Thanks for sharing. I'm curious about historical readers. Our first one here was the adventures of a couple of characters named Dick and Dora, Jane, Nip and Fluff. Were they a feature of learning to read in Scotland as well? Cheers
Lovely illustrations Liz. You are not the only one loving nostalgic reads. There is a huge demand for vintage ladybird books (I include myself in that). We must be getting older! But it is nice to share them with grandchildren! The illustrations are far superior than anything today. I bought a boxed set of remakes od the old ladybird classics at Costo. The illustrations were horrible and I quickly returned them!
Wish I could find some sweet cards like these! I would frame them and hang them in our grandchildren's play room. We learned to read with Dick and Jane, Sally, Spot and Puff here in the states.

Yes! I do think they were, but I can't remember the name of the series. Hopefully someone out there will enlighten us!

They are lovely, I bought some old style Christmas cards to display last year. They were new but in a similar style to the cards above.
They are such sweet little illustrations!
Have a great weekend Liz

Those are very sweet cards
Oh, lovely! They remind me of books illustrated by Mabel Lucie Atwell I used to read as a little girl.
Lovely, and such a strong memory for so many people from their childhoods.
These are so cute!!! I love retro items that are about teaching the alphabet!x

They are beautiful and would make lovely framed pictures for a small child's bedroom. Hope that you are having a good weekend. xx
