I love the old Ladybird books. Even when I was young they were very old fashioned but have such a sense of order and security from the very middle class pictures. I recall one where it insisted high tea was taken at 4pm and I thought I was a deprived child as we didn't have this!

They genuinely were the best starter children's books and are part of so many peoples childhood. Thanks for sharing.

This was one of my husband's favourite books when he was a small child, he loved it so much! It is lovely to see some pictures of this book that he has often talked about! xx

I read Tootles The Taxi so many times to my children it was one of their favourites. Even in the early 1980s it was old fashioned as I am sure it was around in the 1950s. It just shows the essentials of what children like to listen to.

I had this one when I was a kid! It must have been bought for my older sister, who was born in 1955. I wonder if my mum still has it? Fabulous illustrations! xxx

I have heard of the Ladybird Books, but have never seen one. I love the illustrations! I'll have to see what I can find on Abebooks.com. Thanks for sharing that with us. So sweet!
